Drexel Dragons

Drexel took losses to Penn, FGCU, Indiana State, Temple, Princeton, Seton Hall and Towson in their first 15 games. The Dragons hit a 4-1 run after that with wins over Monmouth, Northeastern, Hampton and Delaware.

In the NC A&T matchup on Thursday, Drexel was up 31-19 going into the second half. The Dragons were drilled 49-24 from there and ended up losing 68-55. Both Coletrane Washington and Justin Moore notched 14 points apiece.

Elon Phoenix

Over on the Elon side, they won just two of their first 16 games this year. Those victories came versus Erskine on November 7 and JWU-Charlotte on December 11. The Phoenix continued to fall with losses to NC A&T, Charleston, UNCW and Towson in the next quartet.

Matched up against Hofstra on Thursday, Elon was up 35-33 at the break. The Phoenix fell apart in the second half on a 49-30 deficit and lost the game 82-65. Sean Halloran posted 24 points with five rebounds to top the team.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably stay with Drexel. The Dragons really need a bounce-back effort after their ugly second half against NC A&T on Thursday, tough. Drexel managed a win 62-50 the last time these teams met back on December 29. The Dragons have been decent since then, going 5-3 in the eight games following that meeting. As for Elon, they’ll probably be able to keep the pace if they can get their offense moving. That’s been a big ask for the Phoenix lately, though.
