Fairfield vs Chicago State Prediction 3-25-24 College Basketball Picks

The Chicago State Cougars and the Fairfield Stags meet Monday in CBI college basketball action from Ocean Center. Here’s a Chicago State vs Fairfield prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the game. We will examine:

Chicago State Cougars Betting Preview

Chicago State had a rough six-game losing streak going in early January, but they were able to power out four straight wins in the next quartet. The Cougars would then fall to Duquesne, South Carolina State and Eastern Kentucky before a win over Indiana University Northwest.

In their opening CBI matchup, the Cougars were tied up with UC San Diego 38-38 by the break. Chicago State hit a 39-37 run in the second half and ended up winning 77-75. Leading team scorer Wesley Cardet put up 30 points with four assists and three rebounds in 40 minutes.

Fairfield Stags Betting Preview

Over on the Fairfield side, they got off to an awful 1-6 start this year but have only lost consecutive games once since then. The Stags ended the regular season with wins over Canisius and Mount St. Mary’s, then beat Iona and Marist in the conference tournament before falling to Saint Peter’s.

In their Sunday matchup with Little Rock, the Stags faced a 41-36 deficit in the locker room. Fairfield hit a 46-34 run the rest of the way however, taking the comeback win 82-75 in the end. Leading scorer Matt Curtis put up 19 points with three boards, and Caleb Fields added 15 points as well.

Chicago State vs Fairfield Prediction

I’ll lean toward Fairfield. The Stags need to tighten up a bit heading into this one, though. Fairfield gave up 50 percent shooting from the field and got out-rebounded 34-31 in their latest win over Little Rock. The Stags played well enough to offset the disparities with a solid second half, though. The 82 points was a nice total following three straight with fewer than 69 points.
As for Chicago State, they played well against a solid UC San Diego team in their last game. The Cougars hit 45.6 percent from the field in that one with just eight turnovers. Chicago State has scored 73 or more points in three straight games, so they could notch a high total here if all goes well. Ultimately I don’t quite think the Cougars will cover, though. The winner of this game will meet Seattle or Evansville in the next round.
