The Richmond Spiders and the Fordham Rams meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Rose Hill Gym. Richmond is sitting at 10-7 on the year so far. The Spiders lost to Davidson in their last outing. As for Fordham, they’re 9-6 and fresh off a loss to Saint Louis. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Richmond stumbled out of the gate at 3-4 this year, then hit a nice win streak over Wofford, Northern Iowa, Toledo, NC State, Old Dominion and Bucknell. The Spiders are just 1-3 since then however, with losses to Saint Joseph’s, Saint Louis and Davidson.

In the Davidson game, Richmond took an eight-point deficit into halftime. The Spiders fought back from there but couldn’t bridge the gap in an 87-84 loss. Leading scorer Jacob Gilyard posted 28 points with four rebounds and five assists.

Over on the Fordham side, they started out the year on a 6-3 run with losses to Manhattan, MD Eastern Shore and Delaware. It’s been a 3-3 run since then for the Rams. In that time they’ve beaten LIU, La Salle and Duquesne while otherwise falling to St. John’s, Miami and Saint Louis.

Fordham was down 27-21 at halftime in the Saint Louis game. The Rams didn’t get any better on the scoreboard during a 63-45 defeat. The team’s only double-digit scorer was Darius Quisenberry with 15 points and three steals.

The Rams are 7-20-1 ATS in their last 28 Tuesday games and 6-0 ATS in the last six at home. Fordham is 6-1 ATS in their last seven overall.

Meanwhile, the Spiders are 0-4 ATS in the last four overall and the under is 7-3 in their last 10 road games. The over is 4-1 in Richmond’s last five after an ATS loss.

PICK: I’m going to stick with Richmond. The Spiders could really use a bounce-back game here. In their last outing versus Davidson, Richmond allowed 53.6 percent shooting from the floor and were out-rebounded 39-22. The good news is that the Spiders shot pretty well themselves (45.9 percent) and only had five turnovers.

As for Fordham, I think they’ll hang around for a while here before fading in the second half. Should be Richmond’s cover if they play like they’re capable.
