The CSU-Northridge Matadors and the Fresno State Bulldogs meet in college basketball action from the Save Mart Center on Saturday night.
The CSU-Northridge Matadors will look to add to their 56-52 win over San Diego last time out. Atin Wright leads the Bulldogs in scoring with 10.2 PPG as the lone double-digit scorer for CSUN this season while Elijah Hardy has 9 PPG with 4.8 RPG and 2.7 APG and Christian Gray has 6 RPG as well to lead CSU-Northridge on the glass. As a team, CSU-Northridge is averaging 61.8 PPG on 41% shooting from the field, 34.1% from three and 75.7% from the foul line while allowing 68.5 PPG on 42.6% shooting from the field and 32.6% from three this season.
The Fresno State Bulldogs will also be looking to add to a win over San Diego, with Fresno’s coming by a final count of 63-43. Orlando Robinson leads the Bulldogs with an average of 19.7 PPG, 8.7 RPG and 3.3 APG as well on the year. Jordan Campbell has 10.1 PPG with 4.3 RPG and Isaiah Hill has 9.9 PPG with 3.6 RPG and 2.7 APG as well on the year. As a team, Fresno State is averaging 68 PPG on 45.6% shooting from the field, 0.7% from three and 72.2% from the foul line while allowing 57 PPG on 40.7% shooting from the field and 36.6% from three this season.
CSU-Northridge is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 Saturday games and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games as an underdog while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games following an ATS win. Fresno State is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games and 15-7 ATS in their last 22 games as a road underdog while the under is 7-1 in their last 8 games overall.
I get the case that could be made both ways here as this is a lot of points for the Bulldogs to give up when they’ve bee defense first more often than not this season while Northridge may be in trouble against this Fresno defense. I’m going to side with the under here as I just think this ends up being a defensive battle and a first to 60 kind of game wouldn’t surprise me at all here.
