Dayton Flyers

Dayton was 9-5 after 14 games this year, taking losses to UNLV, NC State, Wisconsin, BYU and Virginia Tech along the way. Since then the Flyers are 4-1 with wins over Davidson, Saint Joseph’s, Fordham and Davidson again.

In the Tuesday matchup versus Davidson, the Flyers were down 32-29 at the break. Dayton hit a 39-29 run in the second half for the comeback win 68-61, though. Leading scorer Mustapha Amzil put up 19 points with four rebounds.

George Washington Colonials

Over on the George Washington side, they were 7-7 through 14 games with losses to Hofstra, UCSD, Radford, American, Washington State, Pepperdine and Seattle. The Colonials are 2-2 in their last four with losses to Richmond and Saint Louis.

In their Monday matchup versus George Mason, George Washington took a 30-25 advantage into halftime. The Colonials had to scramble in the second half but ended up winning 78-75. Brendan Adams led the team on 22 points with eight rebounds.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably stick with Dayton. The Flyers are 8-1 in their last nine games, scoring 66 or more points in eight of those outings. Dayton has failed to hit 70 points in four of their last five games, however if the Flyers can hit that threshold in this one I think they’ll be in good shape. As for George Washington, they’ve given up 73 or more points in seven straight games. Dayton should have plenty of opportunities to score, and I think they’ll walk away with the cover.
