Wright State kicked off the year with a bang, taking a big victory 86-53 over Lake Erie. Game two against Marshall didn’t go quite so well for the Raiders, though. Wright kept the pace initially, but ended up falling 96-88.
In game three Wright State had a tough matchup against Purdue. The Raiders were drilled 51-17 in the first half alone, and didn’t get any closer the rest of the way in a 96-52 loss. Trey Calvin led the team on 21 points with two assists.
Over on the George Washington side, they started off the year with a 75-72 win over St. Francis PA but since then it’s been a string of losses. The Colonials lost their next three to Maryland, UC San Diego and Cal State Fullerton.
In the UMass Lowell matchup, it was another defeat for George Washington. The Colonials had a 35-26 edge at the break but fell from there in a 67-56 loss. James Bishop put up 18 points with five boards and two assists.
The Colonials are 0-5 ATS in their last five Monday games and 0-5 ATS in their last five after a straight-up loss. George Washington is 1-7 ATS in their last eight overall.
Meanwhile, the Raiders are 3-1-1 ATS in their last five Monday games and 0-5 ATS in their last five after an ATS loss. Wright State is 0-7 ATS in their last seven overall.
PICK: I’m going to try Wright State here. The Raiders didn’t really have much hope against Purdue and played accordingly, with 30.5 percent shooting and 15 turnovers. As for George Washington, they shot just 32.7 percent from the field but had 43 rebounds which kept them in the game early. I like the Raiders to bounce back better on a cover in this one.
