The UMBC Retrievers will look to rebound from a 70-60 loss to Delaware last time out. Keondre Kennedy leads the Retrievers in scoring with 15.1 PPG along with 4.5 RPG while Darnell Rogers has 13 PPG with a team-high 3.9 APG as the only other double-digit scorer for UMBC up to this point in the season. Yaw Obeng-Mensah has a team-high 5.3 RPG and L.J. Owens has 9.4 PPG and 3.6 RPG. The Georgetown Hoyas will look to rebound from an 80-67 loss at the hands of South Carolina last time out. Aminu Mohammed leads the Hoyas in scoring and rebounding with 14.3 PPG and 7.9 RPG while Dante Harris has 14 PPG with a team-high 4.7 APG to lead Georgetown in assists. Donald Carey has 13.4 PPG with 5.1 RPG and 3.6 APG and Kaiden Rice has 11.7 PPG to make up the group of double-digit scorers for Georgetown so far this season. As a team, Georgetown is 72.9 PPG on 41.9% shooting from the field, 36.3% from three and 70.1% from the foul line while allowing 72 PPG on 43.3% shooting from the field and 33.9% from three this season.
UMBC is 6-0-1 ATS in their last 7 games after a loss and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 11-4 in their last 15 games following an ATS loss. Georgetown is 2-9 ATS in their last 11 Wednesday games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600.
I can understand the power conference bias and why Georgetown would be favored here, but I’m not buying it as I sold on this Georgetown team long ago. UMBC is a solid team that can score points in bunches as well as play solid defense. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Retrievers won this game outright, but I’ll take UMBC and the points in this one.
