The Charleston Southern Buccaneers and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets meet Monday in college basketball action from McCamish Pavilion. Charleston Southern is 2-2 so far and coming off a win over Bob Jones. As for the Jackets, they’re 3-1 on the year and took out Georgia in their last appearance. Charleston Southern managed a win in their opener game this year, taking out JWU-Charlotte 118-71. In game two the Buccaneers took a 93-68 loss to Ole Miss, then lost against Wake Forest 95-59 in game three.
On Saturday versus Bob Jones, the Bucs didn’t have any problems during a big win. Charleston Southern jumped out to a commanding 63-27 lead and ended up taking it 119-63. AJ Hamrick doubled up in that one with 13 points and 12 boards.
Over on the Georgia Tech side, their opener was a frustrating loss to Miami-OH 72-69. The Yellow Jackets managed wins in their next pair however, beating Stetson 77-52 and Lamar 75-66.
Back on Friday in the Georgia matchup, Georgia Tech posted 47 second-half points in an 88-78 victory. Michael Devoe finished on 37 points with seven rebounds and five assists to lead the team in scoring.
The Jackets are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 overall and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 as a favorite. Georgia Tech is 13-6 ATS in their last 19 after an ATS win.
Meanwhile, the Bucs are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 road games and 1-4 ATS in their last five overall. Charleston Southern is 2-5 ATS in the last seven Monday games.
PICK: I’m going to go with Georgia Tech. The Jackets did a great offensive job against Georgia in their last outing, shooting 60.7 percent with eight 3-pointers. Georgia Tech had 35 rebounds and 17 assists, but could have been sharper on turnovers (15) and fouls (24). Still, I don’t think Georgia Tech will have an issue covering here if they can keep up the good work on offense.
