Vanderbilt Commodores

Vanderbilt was 8-6 after 14 games this year, losing to Memphis, Southern Miss, Saint Mary’s, VCU, Grambling State and NC State. The Commodores are 1-3 since then with losses to Missouri, Tennessee and Alabama.

In the Alabama game on Tuesday, the Commodores took a 10-point deficit into the second half. Vanderbilt didn’t end up getting any closer and fell 78-66. Leading team scorer Tyrin Lawrence finished with 20 points.

Georgia Bulldogs

Over on the Georgia side, they were 11-3 after 14 outings, losing to only Wake Forest, UAB and Georgia Tech. The Bulldogs are 2-2 since then with losses to Florida and Kentucky alongside wins over Mississippi State and Ole Miss.

On Tuesday versus Kentucky, Georgia went into the second half with a 42-34 lead. The Bulldogs were drilled 51-29 from there however and lost the game 85-71. Terry Roberts was the top team scorer on 21 points and five boards.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably stay with Georgia here. The Bulldogs had a bad second half against Kentucky in their last game however, so they’ll need a solid bounce-back effort to get on track again. Georgia is normally a pretty good scoring team but they’ve hit 62 or fewer points in two of the last three games. The Bulldogs won both those outings so they’re still comfortable in defense-heavy matchups. As for Vanderbilt, they’ve hit 68 or more points in six of the last seven games so this one could very well be a high-scoring total. Ultimately I like Georgia to power out the cover, whatever the case.
