The California Baptist Lancers and the Grand Canyon Antelopes meet in college basketball action from the GCU Arena on Saturday night.

The California Baptist Lancers will look to bounce back after a 71-61 loss to Grand Canyon last time out. Ty Rowell ha 15.4 PPG with a team-high 5.8 APG to lead the Lancers in scoring and assists while Reed Nottage has 14.9 PPG with 4.9 RPG and 2.6 APG this season. Gorjok Gak has 12.8 PPG with a team-high 10.2 RPG, averaging a double-double per game and leading the Lancers in rebounding. Tre Armstrong has 11.7 PPG with 3.7 RPG and 2.7 APG and Elijah Thomas has 10.7 PPG and 5.7 RPG as well this season. As a team, Cal Baptist is averaging 80.7 PPG on 47.7% shooting from the field, 40.4% from behind the arc and 73% from the foul line while allowing 72.7 PPG on 44.7% shooting from the field and 33.3% from 3-point range this season.

The Grand Canyon Antelopes will look to build off of their win over Cal Baptist last time out. Asbjorn Midtgaard leads the Antelopes in scoring and rebounding with 14.8 PPG and 9.9 RPG while Alessandro Lever has 13.3 PPG with 5 RPG and Jovan Blacksher Jr. has 11.6 PPG with a team-high 5.5 APG to lead the Antelopes in assists and to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for GCU up to this point in the year. As a team, Grand Canyon is averaging 78.4 PPG on 51.4% shooting from the field, 32.2% from 3-point range and 68.1% from the foul line while allowing 61.3 PPG on 37.6% shooting from the field and 29.6% from 3-point range this season.

California Baptist is 14-6 ATS in their last 20 road games and 16-5 ATS in their last 21 games following a loss while the over is 8-2 in their last 10 Saturday games. Grand Canyon is 12-2 ATS in their last 14 games overall and 9-0 ATS in their last 9 home games while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games as a favorite.

I know the trend has been that the team that loses the first meeting or doesn’t cover usually responds in the second meeting/rematch, but the thing is that Grand Canyon has been rock solid at home this season and while Cal Baptist scores a lot, the Lancers also give up a ton of points and against a Grand Canyon team that is this consistent offensively, I think you have to lean towards Grand Canyon as one of the better late options on Saturday’s card.
