The Boston University Terriers and the Hartford Hawks meet in college basketball action from Chase Arena on Thursday night.
The Boston Terriers come into this game looking to shake off a 49-48 loss at the hands of Northeastern in their last matchup. Javante McCoy leads the Terriers in scoring and assists with 16.3 PPG along with 2.7 APG while Walter Whyte ha 12.3 PPG with 6 RPG as the only other double-digit scorer for Boston U through the Terriers’ first three games this season. Sukhmail Mathon has 9.3 PPG to match his team-high 9.3 RPG as well through three games this year. as a team, Boston is averaging 65 PPG on 43.2% shooting from the field, 29.2% from three-point range and 64.3% from the foul line while allowing 60.3 PPG on 42.2% shooting from the field and 25.6% from downtown this season.
The Hartford Hawks will be looking to bounce back after an 86-79 loss at the hands of Army in their last matchup. Austin Williams leads the Hawks in scoring and assists with 12 PPG and 2.7 APG while Hunter Marks has 11.7 PPG with 4.7 RPG and Moses Flowers has 11 PPG with a team-high 8 RPG to make up the group of double-digit scorers for Hartford through their first three games of the season as the Hawks’ leading rebounder. Jared Kimbrough has also contributed 6 RPG for the Hawks as well this season. As a team, Hartford is averaging 68.3 PPG on 43.3% shooting from the field, 36% from three and 67.7% from the foul line while allowing 77 PPG on 48.9% shooting from the field and 34.3% from three-point range this season.
I’m not sprinting to the window to back either of these teams, but I’m leaning towards the under here. Neither team has been all that impressive offensively this season, and the only reason the over is 2-0-1 in Hartford’s three games is because the defense let the Hawks down. I don’t think that’s a huge concern against this Boston team, so give me the under in this one.
