The Stony Brook Seawolves and the Hofstra Pride meet Monday in CAA Tournament college basketball action from Entertainment & Sports Arena. Let’s get into our Stony Brook vs. Hofstra prediction. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Stony Brook Seawolves
The Seawolves got off to a rocky 9-10 start this year, but they haven’t lost consecutive games since late January. Stony Brook is 5-1 in their last six outings. The wins in that time have come courtesy of North Carolina A&T, William & Mary, Delaware, Northeastern and Drexel.
In their Sunday tournament matchup versus Drexel, Stony Brook had a battle on their hands. The Seawolves fought back from a 36-28 halftime deficit and eventually scored 20 points across two overtimes in a 91-88 win. Tops in scoring was Aaron Clarke with 27 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

Hofstra Pride
Over on the Hofstra side, they were a shaky 8-9 over their first 17 outings. The Pride hasn’t lost consecutive games since mid-January, though. In their last six, Hofstra is 5-1 as well with wins over Northeastern, Drexel, Elon, UNC Wilmington and Delaware alongside a lone loss to Charleston.
In their tournament game Sunday versus Delaware, the Pride didn’t have too many issues. Hofstra was up 35-29 by halftime and cruised on a 38-29 run the rest of the way in a 73-58 win. Leading team scorer Darlinstone Dubar put up 23 points with 11 rebounds in the victory.
ANDREW’S FREE STONY BROOK VS HOFSTRA PREDICTION
I’ll likely take a stab on Stony Brook here. The Seawolves are playing some quality basketball right now and coming off a gritty double-overtime win versus Drexel. Stony Brook shot well in that one (50 percent) with a 46-42 rebounding edge and just six turnovers. That makes 75 or more points in six straight games—a 5-1 run.
In the last meeting between these teams on February 1, Hofstra pulled off a 72-71 victory at home. The Pride started out slowly on a 41-31 first half but eventually found their stride. I like this one to be competitive as well, with Stony Brook hanging around. Should be a fun one.
