The Lafayette Leopards and the Holy Cross Crusaders meet Friday in college basketball action from Hart Center. Lafayette is 3-8 so far this year. The Leopards beat Gwynedd Mercy in their last game. Lafayette managed to go 2-4 over their first six games this year with losses to Syracuse, Cornell, Penn and Duke. Four more losses to Sacred Heart, NJIT, Delaware and Princeton came before a win over Gwynedd Mercy.
In the Gwynedd Mercy game, the Leopards scored 48 points in the first half on the way to an 87-66 win. Leading scorer CJ Fulton put up 14 points, and Neal Quinn notched a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Over on the Holy Cross side, their year started at 2-4 with wins over Regis (MA) and Mount St. Vincent. Since then it’s been losses to New Hampshire, Central CT State, La Salle, Fairfield, Siena, Harvard, Navy and Loyola MD.
In the Greyhounds matchup, the Crusaders scored 35 points in each half during a 79-70 loss. Cam Spencer was the top scorer on the team with 19 points, and Jaylin Andrews added 17 points with five rebounds.
The Crusaders are 11-29 ATS in their last 40 at home and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 overall. The over is 4-0 in Holy Cross’ last four Friday games.
Meanwhile, the Leopards are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 overall and 2-6 ATS in their last eight Friday games. The under is 6-2 in Lafayette’s last eight overall.
PICK: I’m going to try Lafayette here, but staying away. There’s not much to like with this one. In any case, the Leopards have posted a few good scoring outings here and there lately, with 73 or more points in four of their last six games. The Leopards haven’t turned it into Ws, though. As for Holy Cross, they’ve passed 60 points just once in their last five games. If the Crusaders keep up here, it probably won’t be for long.
