Southeastern Louisiana Lions

Southeastern Louisiana posted a 13-9 record over their first 22 games of the year. The Lions are 4-4 since then with wins over Incarnate Word, Texas-A&M-Commerce, Lamar and McNeese State. The losses came to Texas A&M-CC, Nicholls State, McNeese State and Northwestern State.

On Saturday versus McNeese State, the Lions came back from a 34-22 halftime deficit to force overtime. Southeastern LA scored nine points from there and won it 78-75. Boogie Anderson led the team on 24 points with seven boards.

Houston Christian Huskies

Over on the Houston Christian side, they were sitting at a rough 7-15 record overall at the 22-game mark. The Huskies are 3-5 in their last eight with losses to Northwestern State, Nicholls State, Texas A&M-CC, Lamar and Nicholls State again.

In the rematch with the Colonels back on Saturday, the Huskies posted a 34-22 edge by the break. Houston Christian put up a 46-30 second-half deficit and lost 68-64, however. Maks Klanjscek was the leading scorer on 25 points with five rebounds.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably go with Southeastern LA in this one. The Lions didn’t play especially well against McNeese State in their last outing, but to the team’s credit they were able to pull off the comeback win. Southeastern LA has now won three straight after a string of four losses. These teams last met up back on January 5 at University Center. Southeastern Louisiana posted a 71-59 win in that one thanks to a 38-32 second half. Houston Christian has been scoring pretty well lately, but they’re also giving up a lot on the other side. I like this one to be a high total with a Lions cover.
