The Texas A&M-CC Islanders and the Incarnate Word Cardinals meet in college basketball action from the McDermott Convocation Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Texas A&M-CC Islanders will look to rebound from an 86-75 loss to Nicholls State last time out. Isaac Mushila leads the Islanders in scoring and rebounding with 14.4 PPG and 9.8 RPG while Trevian Tennyson has 12.3 PPG to make up the pair of double-digit scorer for the Islanders so far this season. Terrion Murdix has 9.3 PPG and a team-high 3.7 APG this year. As a team, Texas A&M-CC is averaging 77.3 PPG on 44% shooting from the field, 33.1% from 3-point range and 74.3% from the foul line while allowing 70.7 PPG on 42.4% shooting from the field and 31% from 3-point range this season.
The Incarnate Word Cardinals will hope to build on their 69-67 win over McNeese State in their last game. RJ Glasper leads the Cardinals in scoring with 15.7 PPG with 2.5 APG while Josh Morgan has 11.9 PPG so far this season. Charlie Yoder has 11.6 PPG while Johnny Hughes III has 11.7 PPG to round out the group of double-digit scorers for Incarnate Word up to this point in the year. Drew Lutz has 9.8 PPG as well as a team-high 3.7 APG so far for the Cardinals. As a team, Incarnate Word is averaging 67.1 PPG on 41.6% shooting from the field, 34.5% from three and 77.8% from the foul line while allowing 76.5 PPG on 49.1% shooting from the field and 36.6% from three this season.
Texas A&M-CC is 12-4 ATS in their last 16 road games and 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games against a team with a losing record while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games following a double-digit loss at home. Incarnate Word is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record and 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a win while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 home games.
I get the case to be made for a home underdog in certain spots, but Incarnate Word has just been a tough team to back for much of the season as nothing has just seemed to go right for the Cardinals. Texas A&M-CC has been one of the better cover teams in the country on the road, and I just think they add another notch to their belt with a win and cover here.
