UConn Remains Unbeaten

The UConn Huskies come into this one looking to build on their 3-0 start to the year after an 87-53 win over Mississippi Valley State last time out. Alex Karaban leads the Huskies in scoring with 17 PPG along with 6.3 RPG while Tristen Newton has 15.3 PPG with a team-high 7.3 RPG and 4.7 APG to lead the Huskies on the glass this season. Cam Spencer has 15 PPG with a team-high 5 APG to lead UConn in the assist department while Donovan Clingan has 15 PPG with 6.7 RPG. Stephon Castle has 14.5 PPG with 6.5 RPG and 3.5 APG to cap off the group of double-digit scorers for UConn up to this point in the year. As a team, UConn is averaging 96.3 PPG on 54.7% shooting from the field, 33.3% from three and 70% from the foul line this season.

Indiana Also 3-0

The Indiana Hoosiers will look for a big win to improve on their own 3-0 start after an 89-80 win over Wright State last time out. Kel’el Ware leads the Hoosiers in scoring and rebounding with 18.3 PPG and 10 RPG, averaging a double-double per game while Malik Reneau has 15 PPG with 5.3 RPG and a team-high 4 APG as well this season to lead the Hoosiers in the assist department. Xavier Johnson has 14 PPG and Trey Galloway has 12 PPG with 3.7 APG to cap off the group of double-digit scorers for Indiana so far this season. As a team, Indiana is averaging 76.7 PPG on 54.4% shooting from the field, 27.5% from three and 67.9% shooting from the foul line this season.

I’m rolling with UConn here. The Huskies have shown no signs of slowing down from their national championship run, and while the Huskies haven’t played the toughest schedule so far, we saw this last year with UConn, soft schedule and then ran Oregon out of the gym in their first test. I think Indiana’s a tad bit overhyped, and I just think UConn’s the far better team. Give me the Huskies in this one.
