Jacksonville State vs North Florida 1/12/23 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The North Florida Ospreys and the Jacksonville State Gamecocks meet in college basketball action from the Pete Mathews Coliseum on Thursday night.

The North Florida Ospreys will look to rebound from an 82-57 loss to Florida Gulf Coast in their last game. Carter Hendricksen leads the Ospreys in scoring and rebounding with 13.8 PPG and 6.2 RPG while Jarius HIcklen has 13.7 PPG and 3.1 APG to lead the Ospreys in the assist department this season. Jose Placer has 12.1 PPG and 2.4 APG to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for North Florida up to this point in the season. As a team, North Florida is averaging 74.6 PPG on 43.9% shooting from the field, 33.3% from three and 68.5% from the foul line this season.

The Jacksonville State Gamecocks will try to snap a four-game losing streak after a 75-62 loss to Bellarmine last time out. Demaree King leads Jacksonville State in scoring and assists with 14.8 PPG and 2.7 APG while Skyelar Potter has 14.4 PPG with 4.7 RPG as the only other double-digit scorer for Jacksonville State up to this point in the year. Juwan Perdue has a team-high 7.4 RPG to lead the Gamecocks in rebounding this season. As a team, Jacksonville State is averaging 69.4 PPG on 43.9% shooting from the field, 38.1% from three and 68.3% from the foul line this season.

North Florida is 0-5 ATS in their last 5 road games and 10-1 ATS in their last 11 games following an ATS loss while the over is 6-1 in their last 7 games following an ATS loss. Jacksonville State is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 home games.

I get the case to be made for either side in this one, but I’m leaning towards Jacksonville State in this one. I’m just not getting enough points with North Florida to consider backing an Ospreys team that’s just 1-9 on the road this season against a Jacksonville State team that’s played their best at home this season. Not a game I’m rushing to bet, but I’d side with the Gamecocks at home here.
