The Chicago State Cougars and the Kansas State Wildcats meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Bramlage Coliseum. Chicago State is 7-12 on the year and riding a three-game losing streak. The Cougars last fell to DePaul on Saturday. As for Kansas State, they’re 9-3 this season and coming off a win over Wichita State. Let’s get into our Chicago State vs. Kansas State prediction. Chicago State Cougars

The Cougars didn’t start out the season so great, losing nine of their first 12 games. Chicago State’s only wins in that time came versus Southern Indiana, Morgan State and Stetson. After a four-game win streak (including an upset over Northwestern), the Cougars would fall to Wisconsin, Cal Baptist and DePaul in succession.

In the Saturday matchup versus DePaul, the Cougars faced a 32-30 deficit going into the second half. Chicago State didn’t end up getting any closer than that on a 38-28 run and lost 70-58. Wesley Cardet led the team in the losing effort with his 18 points, four rebounds and three assists.

Kansas State Wildcats

Over on the Wildcats’ side, they went 3-2 over their first five games with losses to USC and Miami. Kansas State hit a win streak versus Central Arkansas, Oral Roberts, North Alabama, Villanova and LSU before another loss to Nebraska, but then bounced back with a win over Wichita State.

Way back on December 21 in their last outing versus Wichita State, the Wildcats scored 33 points in the first half and 36 more in the second to power out a 69-60 victory. Tylor Perry topped the team with 17 points and four steals, while Cam Carter chipped in 15 points with five rebounds and five assists.

I’ll just stick with Kansas State here. The Wildcats are playing pretty well these days and coming off a reasonable effort against a pretty good Wichita State team. Kansas State had 17 turnovers and shot a tepid 40 percent from the field in that one, but the 37 rebounds and 23-of-29 (79.3 percent) from the line really helped.

The Wildcats should have plenty of offensive ammunition to keep Chicago State at bay on Tuesday. The Cougars have scored 62 or fewer points in four straight games (a 1-3 run) and given up 70 or more in three straight. Once Kansas State shakes the rust off they should be fine.
