The Seton Hall Pirates and the Kansas Jayhawks meet in college basketball action from the Allen Fieldhouse on Thursday night.
The Seton Hall Pirates will try to rebound from back-to-back losses after a 60-55 loss to Siena last time out. Al-Amir Dawes leads the Pirates in scoring with 11.9 PPG along with 3.3 RPG while Dre Davis has 11.4 PPG with 3.8 RPG and Tyrese Samuel has 10.9 PPG with a team-high 6.6 RPG to lead the Pirates in rebounding and to cap off the group of double-digit scorers for Seton Hall this season. Tray Jackson has 9.4 PPG while Kadary Richmond has a team-high 3 APG to lead the Pirates in assists. As a team, Seton Hall is averaging 71 points per game on 42.9% shooting from the field, 35.2% from behind the three point line and 69.1% from the foul line this season.
The Kansas Jayhawks will try to build on their 87-55 win over Texas Southern last time out. Jalen Wilson leads the Jayhawks in scoring and rebounding with 24.5 PPG and 9.3 RPG while Gradey Dick has 16.8 PPG and 3.8 RPG as the only other double-digit scorer for Kansas up to this point in the season. Dajuan Harris Jr. also has 9 PPG with a team-high 6.3 APG to lead Kansas in the assist department up to this point in the year. As a team, Kansas is averaging 76 points per game on 45.9% shooting from the field, 35.2% from behind the three point line and 62.3% from the foul line this season.
Seton Hall is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 road games and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games against a team with a winning home record while the under is 13-3 in their last 16 road games. Kansas is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 home games.
I get the case to be made for either side in this game, but I’m looking at the under in this one. Seton Hall is still trying to figure out their identity this season and what their philosophy is going to be going forward, while Kansas has struggled to find consistent offense. If nothing else, both have played solid defense and I think this is going to be a game where the points come at a relative premium and slow pace. Give me the under.
