The Grambling State Tigers and the Liberty Flames meet Monday in college basketball action from Liberty Arena. Grambling State is 6-4 overall. The Tigers lost to Virginia Tech in their last game. As for Liberty, they’re sitting at 7-4 so far after a win over Bryant on Saturday. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Grambling State has managed to take wins over UNT Dallas, Colorado, UTSA, Dartmouth, Incarnate Word and Vanderbilt this year. The losses for the Tigers were to Grand Canyon, Arizona State, Incarnate Word and Virginia Tech.

In Saturday’s Virginia Tech matchup, Grambling State posted a 34-25 deficit by the break. The Tigers struggled on a 40-23 second half deficit and lost 74-48. Leading scorer Carte’Are Gordon posted 12 points and four rebounds.

Over on the Liberty side, they’ve beaten Regent VA, NC Central, Bradley, Delaware State, MD Eastern Shore, VA Lynchburg and Bryant. The Flames’ losses have been to Alabama, Southern Miss, Northwestern and Oral Roberts.

Matched up against Bryant in Saturday’s game, the Flames were down by one point at halftime. Liberty surged on a 50-29 run from there and took the comeback win 82-62. Darius McGhee posted 22 points with three rebounds to lead the team.

PICK: I’ll probably stay with Liberty. The Flames managed a nice effort against a pretty good Bryant team in their last outing despite starting out a little slow. Liberty has scored well lately with 70 or more points in each of their last five games. As for Grambling State, they’re coming off a tough matchup versus Virginia Tech but there weren’t too many scenarios in which that game would have been close anyway. The Tigers have been scoring pretty well this year against comparable teams but I don’t think they’ll quite cover in this one.
