The Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Louisville Cardinals meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Lahaina Civic Center. Texas Tech is 3-1 on the year so far. The Raiders lost to Creighton in Monday’s game. As for Louisville, they’re coming off a loss to Arkansas in their Monday outing. Texas Tech got off to a nice start this year with three straight wins. The Red Raiders took out Northwestern State 73-49 in their opener, then Texas Southern 78-54. Game three was a 64-55 win over Louisiana Tech.
The Red Raiders took their first loss of the year on Monday versus a talented Creighton team. Texas Tech had it all knotted up at 31-31 by halftime but eventually fell 76-65. Daniel Batcho led the team with 17 points and five rebounds.
Over on the Louisville side, they fell to Bellarmine in their opener 68-67. The Cardinals lost to Wright State in a close game two 73-72, then fell to Appalachian State 61-60 last Tuesday.
In the Monday game versus Arkansas, the Cardinals were down 36-28 at the break. Louisville posted a 44-26 deficit from there in an 80-54 loss. Louisville’s Kamari Lands put up 13 points and El Ellis had 11 points with three rebounds.
PICK: I’m going to try Texas Tech in this one. The Red Raiders had a rough second half against Creighton on Monday, but overall they shot decently at 43.5 percent from the floor and 37.5 percent (6-of-16) from 3-point range. Texas Tech was out-rebounded 33-28 by the Bluejays, who shot 55.1 percent from the floor and 9-of-20 (45 percent) from outside.
As for Louisville, they gave up 56.9 percent shooting to Arkansas in the Monday loss, so the Raiders should have some opportunities here.
