Maine vs Albany 2/23/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Albany Great Danes and the Maine Black Bears meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Memorial Gym. Albany is sitting at 12-15 on the year so far. The Danes beat New Hampshire in their last outing. As for Maine, they’re currently 6-20 and coming off a win over NJIT. Albany got off to a rough 4-10 start, but then hit a 5-1 run in January that added some life. Since then the Danes are just 3-4, however. The victories during that time have come over Hartford, Binghamton and New Hampshire.

In the New Hampshire matchup on Saturday, the Great Danes had a one-point lead coming out of the break. Albany hit a 37-33 run in the second for a 70-65 win. Jamel Horton led the team with his 24 points and five rebounds.

Over on the Maine side, they started the year at 2-2 but haven’t had any luck since then. The Bears managed just one win from mid-December through early February, but they’re 2-2 in the last four. The wins have come over Albany and NJIT in that time.

Matched up against NJIT on Sunday, the Bears held a two-point lead at halftime. Maine hit a 29-27 run in the second half for a 65-61 victory. Ja’Shonte Wright-McLeish led the team with 17 points, two rebounds and two steals.

The Bears are 2-5 ATS in their last seven at home and the over is 12-4 in their last 16 overall. The under is 11-5 in Maine’s last 16 at home.

Meanwhile, the Danes are 8-0-1 ATS in their last nine road games and 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 Wednesday games. Albany is 9-4-1 ATS in their last 14 overall.

PICK: I’m going to try Albany here. Probably not going near this game, but it should be a pretty good matchup. In any case, the Great Danes have posted 138 combined points over their last two games which is an encouraging sign after a run of sketchy efforts. The last time these teams met up back on February 9, Maine posted a 73-63 road victory. Albany didn’t play particularly well in that one, but with the last two games being fairly encouraging I like them well enough on a cover here. Should be a good game.
