Marist Red Foxes

The Red Foxes’ year began on a solid 7-2 run, then came a rough 3-7 stretch that featured wins over only Rider, Siena and Canisius. Marist has since won four straight however, taking out Saint Peter’s, Siena, Rider and Canisius in that quartet of games.

Last Friday versus Canisius, the Red Foxes held a three-point lead going into the second half. Marist hit a nice 44-24 run the rest of the way to power out the blowout victory 78-55 in the end. Both Josh Pascarelli and Isaiah Brickner (bench) posted 16 points apiece the lead the way.

Manhattan Jaspers

Over on the Jaspers’ side, they managed a 4-3 run over their first seven games. Manhattan has won just once (over Niagara in OT) since then, however. The Jaspers have fallen to Quinnipiac, Fairfield, Mount St. Mary’s, Siena, Iona and Rider in their last six outings for a sizable losing streak.

Back on Sunday in the loss to Rider, the Jaspers faced a 50-26 deficit coming out of the locker room. Manhattan didn’t get any closer on a 54-36 run from there in an eventual 104-62 result. Jaden Winston was tops on 15 points and two rebounds in the loss.

ANDREW’S FREE MARIST VS MANHATTAN PREDICTION

I’m going to stay with Marist here. The Red Foxes played a pretty solid game versus Canisius in their last outing, hitting 51.9 percent from the field with 31 rebounds and 15 team assists. The 19 points off 17 Canisius turnovers didn’t hurt, either. Marist has held opponents to fewer than 63 points in four straight games.

These teams last saw each other way back on December 3 in a 70-56 home win for the Red Foxes. Manhattan shot just 35 percent from the field in that one and got out-rebounded 41-31. Marist might not be quite so dominant in the rematch, but should still have the inside track on a cover.
