The Maine Black Bears and the Marist Red Foxes meet Sunday in college basketball action from the O2. Maine enters this one at 4-3 overall. The Bears lost to Fordham in their last outing. Maine lost to Nebraska in their first game this year, but then hit a win streak over UMFK, Boston College, Columbia and Central CT State. The Black Bears’ streak was halted in game six with a loss to Brown.

On Wednesday versus Fordham, the Bears took another loss. Maine had a 34-28 edge at halftime but lost it in a 72-67 result. Gedi Juozapaitis led the team on 19 points, and Peter Filipovity added 12 points with six rebounds.

Over on the Marist side, they beat American in their opener. The Foxes then lost to Binghamton, Lehigh, Princeton and MD Eastern Shore before stopping the skid with a win over Bucknell.

Marist posted another win over Columbia in their Monday game. The Foxes managed a 22-10 halftime lead and came away with a 52-39 victory. Javon Cooley led the way with 13 points and eight rebounds.

PICK: I’m probably staying with Maine. The Black Bears had a great first half against a talented Fordham team in their last outing but lost it after the break. Maine ended up shooting a solid 46.3 percent from the floor but got out-rebounded 35-29. Provided the Bears can bounce back well in this one they should be able to take care of Marist. The Foxes haven’t been above 60 points in any of their last five games.
