Georgia Tech didn’t have any issues with Clayton State in their opener, cruising to a 93-63 win. The Yellow Jackets eked out a win over Georgia State 59-57 in game two, then followed that up with another win 68-50 over Northern Illinois.

In the Utah matchup back on Monday, the Yellow Jackets took their first loss of the year. Georgia Tech was down 36-28 going into the break and ended up losing 68-64. Leading scorer Deivon Smith put up 15 points with six rebounds.

Over on the Marquette side, they won their first two games of the year versus Radford 79-69 and Central Michigan 97-73. The Eagles took a 75-70 loss to Purdue in game three, then bounced back with a 95-58 win over LIU.

On Monday versus Mississippi State, the Golden Eagles scored just 17 points in the first half. Marquette got better from there but still lost 58-55. Tyler Kolek led the tea on 16 points, and Kameron Jones added 14 points.

PICK: I’m probably going to try Georgia Tech, but staying away. Neither team played all that great in their previous outings. The Yellow Jackets posted 34.8 percent shooting from the field versus Utah, with 55 percent (11-of-20) from the line and a 46-34 rebounding deficit. As for Marquette, they shot better at 41.2 percent but had just 30 rebounds to Mississippi State’s 42 (15-5 offensive). This should be a pretty good matchup, and you could make a case either way.
