Maryland vs UCLA 12/14/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The UCLA Bruins and the Maryland Terrapins meet in college basketball action from the Xfinity Center on Wednesday night.

The UCLA Bruins will be out to build on their five-game win streak after an 87-64 win over Denver last time out. Jaime Jaquez Jr. leads the Bruins in scoring with 17.4 PPG and 5.3 RPG while Jaylen Clark has 15.1 PPG with a team-high 6.1 RPG to lead the Bruins on the glass. Tyger Campbell has 13.2 PPG with a team-high 4.8 APG to lead UCLA in the assist department while Amari Bailey has 10.9 PPG to cap off the group of double-digit scorers for UCLA so far this season. David Singleton also has 9.9 PPG as well this season. As a team, UCLA is averaging 81.3 PPG on 49.9% shooting from the field, 36.6% from three and 72.5% from the foul line this season.

The Maryland Terrapins will try to rebound from back-to-back losses after a 56-53 loss to Tennessee in their last game. Jahmir Young leads the Terps in scoring with 15.6 PPG with 4.6 RPG and Julian Reese has 11.9 PPG along with a team-high 7.6 RPG to lead the Terrapins in rebounding up to this point in the year. Hakim Hart has 12.4 PPG with 5.3 RPG and Donta Scott has 14.1 PPG along with 6.6 RPG to cap off the group of double-digit scorers for Maryland up to this point in the year. As a team, Maryland is averaging 75.8 PPG on 46.7% shooting from the field, 31.1% from three and 72.2% from the foul line this season.

UCLA is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games against a team with a home winning percentage above .600 while the over is 10-1 in their last 11 games following an ATS loss. Maryland is 9-1 ATS in their last 10 home games and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games overall while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall.

This has game of the night potential written all over it, but I’m still sticking with Maryland at home. This is only the second true road game of the season for UCLA, and while the win over Stanford is nice, it’s still a step up here to take on a clearly motivated Maryland team at home that’s looking to get the bad taste out of their mouths from the losses to Wisconsin and Tennessee, two games that the Terps were in until the very end. I think this is just a tough spot for UCLA and I think the Terrapins get it done at home.
