The Temple Owls and the Memphis Tigers meet Sunday in college basketball action from FedExForum. Temple is currently 14-11 on the year. The Owls lost to SMU in their last game. As for Memphis, they’re sitting at 18-6 after a Wednesday win over South Florida. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Temple Owls

Temple managed to start out the year on a 10-8 run, staying above .500 in the record column. The Owls are 4-3 since then, beating East Carolina, Houston, South Florida and UCF with losses to Memphis, Houston and SMU otherwise.

In the matchup versus SMU back on Wednesday, the Owls trailed 32-30 going into the break. Temple posted a 41-40 advantage in the second half in a 72-71 loss. Leading scorer Khalif Battle put up 27 points and three rebounds.

Memphis Tigers

Over on the Memphis side, they managed a decent 13-5 overall record in their first 18 games this year. The Tigers are 5-1 in their last six games with wins over Wichita State, Cincinnati, SMU, Tulsa and South Florida (and a loss to Tulane).

On Wednesday versus South Florida, Memphis jumped out to a 48-35 halftime edge. The Tigers cruised on a 51-46 second half and took the win 99-81. DeAndre Williams scored 26 points and Kendric Davis added 23 points and eight assists.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably stick with Memphis here. The Tigers are a nice 6-1 over their last seven games, and they’ve hit 75 or more points in six straight outings. The last time these teams met up back on January 15 at Liacouras Center, Memphis powered out a 61-59 win that was pretty close the whole way. Memphis didn’t shoot very well in that one (37.9 percent) and got out-rebounded 48-31, but Temple’s 17 turnovers and 29.3 percent shooting didn’t hurt. With the Tigers being back at home I think they’ll be more comfortable and power out the cover.
