Mercer vs Towson 11/27/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Mercer Bears and the Towson Tigers meet in college basketball action from the Enmarket Arena on Sunday.

The Mercer Bears will look to build on their 60-58 win over Fairfield last time out. Jamar Robertson leads the Bears in scoring with 14.5 PPG while Jalyn McCreary has 14.3 PPG with 5.2 RPG this season. Luis Hurtado Jr. has 10.8 PPG with 5 RPG and a team-high 6.3 APG while Shawn Walker Jr. has 10.7 PPG to cap off the scoring in double figures for Mercer this season. David Craig also has a team-high 6.7 RPG to lead the Bears on the glass. As a team, Mercer is averaging 79.6 PPG on 48.9% shooting from the field, 37.2% from three and 69.8% from the foul line this season.

The Towson Tigers will try to add to a 62-60 win over South Alabama in their last game. Nicolas Timberlake leads the Tigers in scoring with 17.8 PPG along with 4.7 RPG while Cameron Holden has 12.8 PPG with 6.2 RPG and a team-high 4 APG to lead the Tigers in assists and Charles Thompson has 12.7 PPG with 5.8 RPG to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for Towson this season. Sekou Sylla also has a team-high 6.8 RPG to lead Towson on the glass this season. As a team, Towson is averaging 69.1 PPG on 46.4% shooting from the field, 33% from three and 69% from the foul line this season.

Mercer is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 neutral site games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a win while the under is 11-2 in their last 13 neutral site games. Towson is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a win while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games following an ATS loss.

I get the case to be made for either side in this game, but the problem here is that Mercer has had an issue with covering the spread in recent games. Towson has had a couple of blips as well, but I’m much higher on this Towson team as they have a ton of top tier talent and are likely the team to beat in the CAA this season. I’ll side with Towson in this one.
