Central Michigan Chippewas

The Chippewas didn’t get off to a great start this season, going just 6-10 over their first 16 outings. Central Michigan is just 2-6 since then with losses to Akron, Ohio, Bowling Green, Kent State, Toledo and Ball State in that time.

On Tuesday versus Ball State, Central Michigan was down 37-31 going into the second half. The Chippewas didn’t get any closer on a 28-20 run from there and lost 65-51. Brian Taylor led the team on 20 points and seven rebounds.

Miami-OH RedHawks

Over on the RedHawks’ side, they were a similar 7-9 after 16 games in a shaky start this year. Miami-OH is just 1-7 since then with losses to Ball State, Northern Illinois, Bowling Green, Akron, Eastern Michigan, Toledo and Ohio.

In their Tuesday matchup versus Western Michigan, the RedHawks finally got back into the win column. Miami-OH scored 43 points in the first half on the way to an 85-78 victory. Anderson Mirambeaux was tops in scoring on 22 points.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably take a stab on Miami-OH. I could go either way on this one, though; it should be a close matchup. The last time these teams saw each other was back on January 3 at McGuirk Arena. Central Michigan powered out a 68-56 win in that one thanks to a 42-27 edge in the second half. Miami-OH has been on a rough run since then, winning just two games. That said, the RedHawks are scoring quite well lately with 68 or more points in seven straight. Another strong performance at home and Miami-OH will get some revenge.
