Indiana State got off to a 4-0 start this year with wins over Green Bay, Ball State, North Dakota State and East Carolina. The Sycamores took their first loss to UMKC, then beat Drexel and Trinity Christin in the next pair.

Indiana State kept it rolling on Wednesday versus Drake. The Sycamores hit a 42-34 advantage in the first half and were able to hang on for the 75-73 win. Robbie Avila was the high man on 16 points with eight rebounds and three assists.

Over on the Miami-OH side, they went just 1-4 over their first five games. The losses in that stretch were to Evansville, Georgia, Marshall and Indiana. The RedHawks were able to bounce back with a win over Little Rock in game six.

On Tuesday versus Jackson State, the RedHawks posted a 45-32 advantage going into the second half. Miami-OH scored another 50 from there for a 95-78 win. Leading the way was Morgan Stafford with 26 points.

PICK: I’m going to stick with Indiana State. The Sycamores posted a nice win over a pretty good Drake team in their last game, even though the team faded a bit after the break. Indiana State ended up shooting 40.7 percent from the field and a crucial 20-of-24 (83.3 percent) from the line. As for Miami-OH, they should be feeling pretty good after wins versus the overmatched Little Rock and Jackson State. This matchup is going to be much tougher though, and I don’t think Miami-OH will hang around.
