The Oakland Golden Grizzlies and the Michigan State Spartans meet in college basketball action from the Breslin Center on Wednesday evening.
The Oakland Golden Grizzlies will be looking to snap a seven-game losing streak after a 77-57 loss to Boise State last time out. Trey Townsend leads the Golden Grizzlies in scoring with 18.3 PPG along with 7.6 RPG while Keaton Harvey has 13.4 PPG along with 7.6 RPG to share the team-lead for Oakland on the glass as the Golden Grizzlies’ top rebounders. Jalen Moore also has 12.7 PPG along with 5.7 APG to lead Oakland in the assist department while Blake Lampman has 11 PPG to cap off the group of double-digit scorers for Oakland so far this season. As a team, Oakland is averaging 73.3 PPG on 42.8% shooting from the field, 30.7% from three and 71.8% from the foul line so far this season.
The Michigan State Spartans will look to build on a 68-50 win over Brown in their last game. Tyson Walker leads MSU in scoring with 14 PPG with 3.5 APG and Joey Hauser has 13.9 PPG with a team-high 7.4 RPG while Malik Hall has 12 PPG with 5.3 RPG. A.J. As a team, Michigan State is averaging 69.7 PPG on 43.5% shooting from the field, 36.9% from behind the arc and 77.6% from the foul line this season.
Oakland is 1-12 ATS in their last 13 games against a team with a winning record and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600 while the over is 7-2 in their last 9 games following a loss. Michigan State is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a win and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a losing record while the over is 6-1 in their last 7 home games.
I get the case to be made for either side in this one as this is normally more points than I like to lay with Michigan State. However, Oakland’s been a sieve defensively for much of the season and even against Michigan State I just don’t see that changing here. I don’t expect the Spartans to let up here and for Oakland to have another rough go at it here. Give me Michigan State in a beatdown.
