The Central Michigan Chippewas and the Missouri State Bears meet Sunday in college basketball action from JQH Arena. Central Michigan is currently 4-6 overall and fresh off a loss to Tulsa. Central Michigan went 1-3 over their first four games with a lone win over Eastern Illinois. The Chippewas hit a 3-1 stretch after that with a lone loss to Cal Baptist, then fell to Robert Morris and Tulsa in consecutive outings.

Last weekend versus Tulsa, Central Michigan trailed 31-25 at the break. The Chippewas scored 38 points in the second half but still lost 70-63. Brian Taylor was tops on the team with 14 points and five boards.

Over on the Missouri State side, they went 3-3 over their first six games with wins over Missouri S&T, Middle Tennessee and Oakland. The Bears beat UIC then lost to Bradley, Saint Mary’s and Fort Wayne in the next three.

Missouri State made it four losses in a row with Friday’s matchup versus Oral Roberts. The Bears outscored the Eagles by 10 in the second half but it wasn’t enough in an 80-77 loss. Jonathan Mogbo topped the team on 14 points.

PICK: I’ll probably stay with Missouri State in this one, but the line’s a little too thick to play around with. There’s not a lot of intrigue going on here but it should at least be a competitive game. The Bears have had it rough over their last four games, scoring 61 points or fewer in three of them. The good news is that Missouri State was able to hang around with a pretty good Oral Roberts team and they should do well in this matchup also. Central Michigan hasn’t fared well over their last pair themselves, however this should be a pretty close matchup if both teams play well.
