Nebraska-Omaha vs St. Thomas (MN) 12/20/21 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The St. Thomas MN Tommies and the Omaha Mavericks meet Monday in college basketball action from Baxter Arena. St. Thomas MN sits at 5-6 so far. The Tommies beat Northland in their last outing. As for Omaha, they’re 1-10 and fresh off a loss to UNLV. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

St. Thomas MN went 3-3 over their first six games, taking out St. Francis BK, Niagara and SIU Edwardsville in that span. Since then the Tommies are 2-3 with victories versus Crown College and Northland under their belts.

In last Tuesday’s matchup versus Northland, St. Thomas MN drilled the LumberJacks with a 71-18 advantage in the first half. The Tommies cruised from there to a 109-50 blowout win. Leading scorer Kevin Cunningham finished on 17 points with three assists.

Over on the Omaha side, they won their opener versus Hastings but have since hit a losing streak. Those Ls have come to Ball State, Kansas State, Montana, Texas Tech, Purdue, SIUE, Eastern Washington, Drake Texas A&M-CC and UNLV.

Matched up against UNLV last Wednesday, the Mavericks held a 38-35 lead at halftime. Omaha was outscored 49-33 from there in an 84-71 loss. Felix Lemetti was tops on 20 points, five rebounds and two assists for the Mavericks.

The Mavericks are 2-9 ATS in the last 11 at home and 2-6 ATS in the last eight overall. Omaha is 2-5 ATS in their last seven as a favorite.

Meanwhile, the Tommies are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and 6-2 ATS in their last eight overall. The under is 4-1 in St. Thomas MN’s last five overall.

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on St. Thomas here, but probably staying away. The Tommies have been pretty good this year in comparable matchups and overall they’ve been scoring well (outside of a handful of duds). It won’t be quite so easy to put up points here, but if St. Thomas MN can carry some momentum over from their blowout win I think they’ve got a shot.

As for Omaha, they’ve hit 70 or more in each of their last four games so I think this one will be a higher-scoring affair as well. Should be an interesting matchup, and I think the Tommies can stay in range for a cover.
