The San Diego Toreros and the Nevada Wolf Pack meet in college basketball action from the Lawlor Events Center on Friday night.
The San Diego Toreros will look to keep the good vibes going after starting the year with a 103-38 rout of subdivision La Verne. Vladimir Pinchuk led the Toreros with 15 points on a perfect 5 of 5 from the floor with 7 rebounds while Terrell Brown and Jase Townsend each had 13 points with Brogn logging 6 rebounds, a pair of steals and 3 blocks while Townsend hit 3 threes. Yavoz Gultekin had 12 points with 11 rebounds, 4 assists and a pair of steals for the double-double while Marcellus Earlington and Joey Calcaterra each had 10 points to cap off the scoring in double figures for San Diego in the win. As a team, San Diego shot 47.9% from the field, 50% from three and 73.3% from the foul line in the win.
The Nevada Wolf Pack will be out to build on their 91-76 win over Eastern Washington to start their season. Desmond Cambridge Jr. led the Wolf Pack with 22 points on 8 of 14 shooting with 4 threes, 7 rebounds and 4 assists while Grant Sherfield and AJ Bramah each had 17 points with Bramah shooting an efficient 8 of 9 with a team-high 9 rebounds while Sherfield had a team-high 9 assists. Warren Washington had 15 points with 8 rebounds and 4 blocks and Will Baker added 13 points to cap off the scoring in double figures for Nevada in the win. Kenan Blackshear also chipped in 7 points and 5 assists for Nevada in the victory. As a team, Nevada shot 50.7% from the field, 33.3% from three and 68.7% from the foul line in the win.
San Diego is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games as a road underdog and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall while the under is 8-2 in their last 10 Friday games. Nevada is 7-1 ATS in their last 8 home games and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games as a favorite while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 Friday games.
This is a hefty line considering that the Wolf Pack aren’t the Wolf Pack we’re used to seeing in Nevada year in and year out. However, neither is San Diego and the Toreros, who were inconsistent over the last couple of years, have seemingly taken another step back. I think Nevada is simply the better team from top-to-bottom and have no issue dispatching San Diego in this one. I’ll lay the points.
