The Utah State Aggies and the Nevada Wolf Pack meet Saturday in college basketball action from Lawlor Events Center. Utah State is currently 11-9 this year. The Aggies beat San Diego State in their last game. As for Nevada, they’re 9-8 so far and coming off a loss to Colorado State. Utah State got off to a solid 10-5 start this year, losing to UC Davis, Saint Mary’s, BYU, Iowa and Air Force along the way. After a losing streak to Colorado State, Wyoming, Fresno State and Boise State, the Aggies picked up another win Wednesday versus San Diego State.
In the Aztecs matchup, the Aggies took a slim one-point lead into halftime. Utah State went on a 43-26 run from there in a 75-57 victory. Steven Ashworth led the team on 17 points, and Justin Bean doubled up with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Over on the Wolf Pack side, they went 6-4 over their first 10 games this year. Nevada has hit a 3-4 stretch since then however. They’ve got wins over New Mexico, Air Force and Fresno State mixed with losses to Kansas, Boise State, Wyoming and Colorado State in that time.
Matched up versus the Rams on Tuesday, the Wolf Pack got off to a 34-27 advantage in the first half. Nevada coughed up 50 points from there however, and ended up losing 77-66. Desmond Cambridge led the team with 23 points and five rebounds.
The Wolf Pack are 1-4 ATS in their last five at home and 2-5 ATS in their last seven Saturday games. Nevada is 1-7 ATS in their last eight overall.
Meanwhile, the Aggies are 1-4 ATS in the last five road games and 15-7 ATS in their last 22 after an ATS win. Utah State is 2-5 ATS in their last seven overall.
PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Utah State here but probably staying away. A lot of different things could happen in this game. The Aggies are coming off a really nice effort against a good San Diego State team, posting a much-needed solid offensive outing. As for Nevada, they had a bad second half in their last game versus Colorado State, but otherwise they’ve been pretty consistent when it comes to scoring lately. All things considered, I think Utah State can keep the pace in this one.
