Montana State’s season began with a 60-54 loss to Grand Canyon. The Bobcats managed a victory over Long Beach State in game two 70-57, but lost in a blowout to Oregon 81-51 back on Tuesday in game three.

Matched up against Warner Pacific on Friday, Montana State posted a 46-34 lead by halftime. The Bobcats scored 60 points in the second half during a 106-64 win. Jubrile Belo led the team 23 points and eight rebounds, and Jed Miller added 14 points.

Over on the North Dakota side, they got off to a nice start this year with a 65-57 win over Incarnate Word. The Hawks would then lose their next two games however, 96-61 to Creighton and 93-63 to Pacific.

On Thursday versus Elon, the Hawks were able to get back into the win column. North Dakota took a 37-27 lead into halftime. The Hawks were outscored 46-40 in the second but hung on for the 77-73 victory. Mitchell Sueker managed 15 points and nine boards. Treysen Eaglestaff added 15 points as well.

PICK: I’m probably going to take a stab on Montana State. This should be a pretty good matchup regardless though, and it’ll give us a good idea of where each team stands. The Bobcats have been pretty competitive this year; they’ve got just the one blowout loss to Oregon in the books. As for North Dakota, they’ve got a couple of blowouts to good teams this year; the Hawks have hung in there otherwise, though. Should be a fun one to watch.
