Northeastern vs Drexel 1/14/23 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Drexel Dragons and the Northeastern Huskies meet Saturday in college basketball action from Matthews Arena. Drexel is fresh off a Thursday matchup versus Stony Brook. In that one the Dragons lost by a single point. As for Northeastern, they’re sitting at 6-9 overall after a victory over Hampton last weekend. Drexel posted a 6-6 run over their first 12 games this year, losing to Penn, FGCU, Indiana State, Temple, Princeton and Seton Hall. The Dragons hit a 3-1 run in their next four outings, falling to only Towson in that time.

On Thursday versus Stony Brook, the Dragons went into halftime tied 26-26. Drexel was outscored 41-40 in the second for a tough 67-66 defeat. Amari Williams led the team on 14 points with six rebounds.

Over on the Northeastern side, they were 5-7 at the 12-game mark with wins over Manhattan, Georgia State, Holy Cross, Davidson and NC A&T. The Huskies would then lose to Stony Brook and William & Mary in their next pair.

Back on Saturday versus Hampton, the Huskies jumped out to a 45-28 halftime lead. Northeastern closed on a 35-34 deficit and hung on for the 79-63 win. Jahmyl Telfort topped the team on 19 points with four rebounds.

PICK: I might take a stab on Northeastern here. The Huskies are a sketchy 3-2 in their last five games but they haven’t been playing too badly in that time. Northeastern was within four points in both of the losses, and they scored 66 or more in four of the five games. The Huskies have been a mixed bag so far this year, however if they get off to a good start in this one I can see them covering. Drexel hasn’t been the most reliable team in the world lately; this game is probably a coin-flip proposition cover/win-wise, hence the line.
