Northern Illinois vs Albany 12/20/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Albany Great Danes and the Northern Illinois Huskies meet Tuesday in college basketball action from NIU Convocation Center. Albany is 4-9 overall this year. The Great Danes lost to Loyola in their last game. As for Northern Illinois, they’re 3-8 on the season and coming off a loss to VCU. Albany has wins over Immaculata, Union NY, Presbyterian and LIU this year. The losses otherwise have been to Towson, Siena, Saint Joseph’s, Austin Peay, FAU, American, UMass, Providence and Loyola.

In the Loyola game back on Sunday, Albany was down 37-28 going into the second half. The Great Danes managed another 28 points in the second but couldn’t catch the Ramblers in a 68-56 defeat.

Over on the Northern Illinois side, they’ve beaten only Purdue Calumet, LIU and Eastern IL this year. The Huskies losses have been to Illinois Springfield, Northwestern, Georgia Tech, Sam Houston, Northern Iowa, Idaho, Gonzaga and VCU.

Matched up against VCU on Saturday, the Huskies were drilled 49-26 in the first half. Northern Illinois didn’t end up getting any closer in a 90-63 loss. Keshawn Williams posted 16 points with six rebounds to top the team.

PICK: I’ll probably stay with Albany in this one. There’s not a ton of intrigue involved in this matchup but it should be a fairly competitive game at least. The Great Danes have scored 73 or more points in two of their last four. The Loyola game was a dud for the Danes but they’ve hit some decent points totals in comparable matchups this season. As for Northern Illinois, they’ve scored 67 or fewer points in three straight games. Likewise, the Huskies should post a decent total here. I like this one to be a fairly high-scoring affair with Albany powering out a cover. Probably not going near it, though.
