Penn State Nittany Lions

Penn State was sitting at 14-8 at the 22-game mark this year. The Nittany Lions are a sketchy 3-4 since then with losses to Nebraska, Wisconsin, Maryland and Rutgers. Penn State put up wins over Illinois, Minnesota and Ohio State otherwise in that time.

In the Rutgers matchup back on Sunday, Penn State went into the locker room with a 31-21 edge. The Nittany Lions were outscored 38-25 from there and lost 59-56. Camren Wynter put up 16 points with four rebounds in the defeat.

Northwestern Wildcats

Over on the Northwestern side, they were 15-8 after their first 23 outings of the year. The Wildcats have since gone 5-2 with wins over Wisconsin, Ohio State, Purdue, Indiana and Iowa before losses to Illinois and Maryland.

Matched up against Maryland on Sunday, the Wildcats were within two points at 41-39 going into the second half. Northwestern was outscored 34-20 from there and lost 75-59. Chase Audige led the team on 16 points with two rebounds.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably take a stab on Northwestern here. Probably also not going near it. The Wildcats have had a rough couple of games in their last pair, and they gave up 53.8 percent shooting to a hot-handed Maryland team in their last game. The Wildcats were on a nice five-game win streak in mid-February however, and coming back home will certainly help the team’s chances here. As for Penn State, they’re 3-1 in their last four and you could easily make a case for a Nittany Lions cover here. I’m leaning toward Northwestern in a high-scoring, competitive finish however.
