Pittsburgh kicked off the season with a win over TN-Martin, but then hit a losing streak. The Panthers would fall to West Virginia, Michigan and VCU before beating Alabama State and Fairleigh Dickinson.

Pittsburgh took on William & Mary back on Friday. The Panthers were down 37-33 by halftime but stormed back with 47 second-half points in an 80-64 win. Blake Hinson led the team on a double-double with 17 points and 11 boards.

Over on the Northwestern side, they got off to a hot start this year with five straight wins. During that stretch, the Wildcats took out Chicago State, Northern Illinois, Georgetown, Fort Wayne and Liberty in succession.

Northwestern faced a tough Auburn team in their sixth game back on Wednesday. The Wildcats had a 19-19 tie going into the second half and ultimately fell 43-42. Chase Audige was the only double-digit team scorer with 10 points.

PICK: I’m going to take Northwestern. The Wildcats posted a gritty showing in the Auburn loss Wednesday, even though neither team played well. Northwestern shot 25 precent from the field and hit just 2-of-24 from 3-point range. It was something of a weird game on both sides. As for Pittsburgh, they had a rough first half against William & Mary but picked it up after halftime. This is going to be a much tougher matchup for the Panthers, though.
