Notre Dame vs NC State 1/26/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The NC State Wolfpack and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Joyce Center. NC State is 10-10 on the year so far. The Wolfpack beat Virginia in their last game. As for Notre Dame, they’re currently 12-6 and beat Louisville over the weekend. NC State got off to a nice 7-2 start, but since conference play began they’ve struggled. The Wolfpack have gone just 3-8 in their last 11 games. The only victories during that stretch have come versus Virginia Tech, Louisville and Virginia.

In the Virginia game on Saturday, NC State jumped out to a 43-32 halftime lead. The Wolfpack kept up the pressure in an eventual 77-63 win. Tops in scoring was Jericole Hellems with 21 points, and Terquavion Smith added 20 points with three assists.

Over on the Notre Dame side, their year began at 4-5 through nine games but has gotten significantly better since then. The Irish are 8-1 over their last nine. They’ve taken out Howard and Louisville in their last pair.

Matched up against Louisville on Saturday, the Irish were down 45-38 at the break. Notre Dame owned the second half 44-25 and came away with an 82-70 comeback win. The team’s leading scorer was Blake Wesley with 22 points, two assists and a rebound.

The Irish are 8-20 ATS in their last 28 Wednesday games and 5-1 ATS in their last six overall. The over is 5-1 in Notre Dame’s last six Wednesday games.

Meanwhile, the Wolfpack are 1-5 ATS in their last six Wednesday games and 6-15 ATS in their last 21 overall. The over is 35-17 in NC State’s last 52 road games.

PICK: I’m going to stay with Notre Dame. The Irish have gotten into some trouble over their last three games; each one has been pretty close. The good news is that Notre Dame has been scoring well over this 8-1 stretch, hitting 68 or more points in each outing.

As for NC State, they’ve been all over the place lately so it’s tough to know what to expect from the Wolfpack. I like NC State to set the pace for most of the game with Notre Dame pulling off a late cover. Should be a fun and competitive matchup.
