Arkansas State managed to go 3-3 over their first six games this year, taking out Harding, Lyon and TN-Martin. The Red Wolves hit a 5-2 run after that, beating Bethel TN, MS Valley State, SEMO, Alabama State and Little Rock.

In the Little Rock matchup last Thursday, the Red Wolves were down 39-31 going into halftime. Arkansas State surged on a 46-36 run from there and won it 77-75. Omar El-Sheikh doubled on 25 points with 15 boards, and TJ Ford scored 25 as well.

Over on the Old Dominion side, they were 3-3 after six games as well, beating MD Eastern Shore, VA Wesleyan and Furman. The Monarchs are 5-1 since then with wins over East Carolina, Norfolk State, William & Mary, Gardner-Webb and George Mason.

In the George Mason game last week, the Monarchs trailed 34-33 by halftime. Old Dominion posted a 45-43 second half and took the dramatic comeback win 78-77. Tyreek Scott-Grayson led the team on 30 points and six boards.

PICK: I’ll probably stay with Old Dominion in this one. We should have an intriguing matchup here, though. The Monarchs managed a gutsy win over George Mason in their last game and they’ve been playing well recently. Old Dominion has scored 68 or more points in four of their last six games and should post a pretty good total in this one as well. As for Arkansas State, they’re on a nice three-game win streak (with 68 or more points in each game) and should provide a quality challenge for Old Dominion. It’ll be a good one.
