UAB has remained consistent so far this year; they’re yet to lose consecutive games. The Blazers are 6-1 in their last seven outings, notching wins over FIU, FAU, Louisiana Tech, Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee and Southern Miss in that time.
Matched up against Southern Miss on Thursday, the Blazers went into halftime tied at 37 apiece. UAB caught fire on a 47-26 run from there in an 84-63 victory. Tops in scoring was Jordan Walker on 25 points with eight assists.
Over on the Monarchs’ side, they’ve had a sketchy run so far. Old Dominion started out at 7-8 overall but have hit a 2-7 stretch since. The losses in that time were to UTEP, Rice, North Texas, Charlotte, Western Kentucky, FAU and Middle Tennessee.
On Thursday in the Middle Tennessee game, the Monarchs did okay in the first half on a 30-30 tie. Old Dominion was outscored 18-33 in the second in a 63-48 loss, however. Austin Trice topped the team with 18 points and 13 rebounds.
The Monarchs are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 at home and 1-5 ATS in their last six after an ATS loss. ODU is 2-7 ATS in their last nine games overall.
Meanwhile, the Blazers are 4-0 ATS in the last four after an ATS loss and 17-8-1 ATS in the last 26 overall. The over is 6-1 in UAB’s last seven road games.
PICK: I’m staying with UAB here. The Blazers have been scoring very well lately. They’ve hit 68 or more points in each of their last 12 games. UAB has even been competitive in the losses. As for Old Dominion, they’ve got a few good outings during this 2-7 stretch but they’ve been under 70 points in seven of the nine games. UAB should have plenty of firepower to stay out front here, and I like the Blazers to power out the cover.
