North Dakota State Bison

North Dakota State posted a 9-15 record over their first 24 games of the year. The Bison finished off the regular season slate on a 5-1 run with wins over Omaha, Denver, Kansas City, St. Thomas MN and Western Illinois. North Dakota State would then beat South Dakota on Sunday in the tournament.

In the Monday tournament game versus South Dakota State, the Bison held a 40-34 edge by the break. North Dakota State outscored the Jackrabbits 49-45 from there and won it 89-79. Leading the way was Boden Skunberg with 24 points and four rebounds. Grant Nelson doubled on 20 points and 22 rebounds as well.

Oral Roberts Golden Eagles

Over on the Oral Roberts side, they managed to go 21-4 over their first 25 games this year. On Monday in the second game of the tournament versus St. Thomas MN, the Golden Eagles were in the locker room with a 33-32 deficit. Oral Roberts scored another 38 points from there in a 70-65 win. Leading scorer Max Abmas put up 23 points with seven rebounds.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably stay with Oral Roberts here. The Golden Eagles are on a great run right now; they haven’t lost a game since January 9. That’s a 16-game win streak. Oral Roberts has hit 69 or more points in 30 straight games also, so things are going well offensively these days. These teams have met twice this year already with Oral Roberts winning both times. The Eagles won 92-69 on January 19 at Scheels Center and 74-66 at Mabee Center on February 18. North Dakota State is playing great basketball right now and should make things interesting. I still like Oral Roberts just a bit better cover-wise, though.
