The South Dakota Coyotes and the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles meet Friday in Summit League Tournament college basketball action from Denny Sanford Premier Center. Let’s get into our South Dakota vs. Oral Roberts prediction. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

South Dakota Coyotes

The Coyotes started out the season on a rough 9-10 run, then were able to win just one game between January 18 and February 24 (over Denver). Over the last three games South Dakota has gone 2-1 with wins over Oral Roberts and North Dakota State before a loss to North Dakota.

In the North Dakota matchup on Saturday, the Coyotes were within four points by halftime. South Dakota was drilled in the second half 50-25 however and ended up losing big 95-66. Lahat Thioune topped the team in the loss with 15 points and four rebounds.

Oral Roberts Golden Eagles

Over on the Golden Eagles’ side, they were sitting at 8-11 back in late January. Oral Roberts would win three straight after that, but since then they’ve fallen to St. Thomas-MN, South Dakota State, North Dakota State, North Dakota, Omaha, South Dakota and Kansas City in succession.

Matched up against Kansas City on Sunday, the Golden Eagles came out of the break with a 31-23 deficit. Oral Roberts didn’t get any closer than that on a 40-31 second-half run and lost 71-54. Jailen Bedford was the only starter in double-figures with 18 points and two boards.

ANDREW’S FREE SOUTH DAKOTA VS ORAL ROBERTS PREDICTION

I’ll lean toward South Dakota here. We should have a competitive matchup, but with both teams struggling there’s not a lot to get excited about otherwise. The Coyotes shot well (50.9 percent) against North Dakota in their latest loss but otherwise got out-rebounded 33-29 and coughed up 15 turnovers for 20 Hawks points. It was South Dakota’s lowest points total (66) since January 27 (57).

In the last meeting between these teams on February 24, the Coyotes eked out a 77-76 win. Both teams shot well (over 46.6 percent) and rebounded well (30 or more) in a fairly tight game the whole way. I like this one to be close as well, with the Coyotes eking out a cover. You could call it either way, though.
