The Utah Utes and the Oregon Ducks meet in college hoops action from the Matthew Knight Arena on Saturday night.
The Utah Utes will look to rebound from an 88-76 loss at the hands of the Oregon State Beavers last time out. Branden Carlson leads the Utes in scoring with 13.3 PPG along with 6.3 RPG while David Jenkins Jr. has 12.7 PPG and Both Gach has 11.9 PPG to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for Utah up to this point in the season. Marco Anthony has 8.3 PPG with a team-high 7.1 RPG to lead the Utes on the glass while Rollie Worster has a team-high 3.5 APG as well this season. As a team, Utah is averaging 73.2 PPG on 42.9% shooting from the field, 34.2% from three and 78% from the foul line while allowing 67 PPG on 41.2% shooting from the field and 25.8% from three this season.
The Oregon Ducks will try to add to their 68-59 win over Pepperdine last time out. Will Richardson leads the Ducks in scoring and assists with 12.7 PPG and 3.6 APG while De’Vion Harmon has 10.1 PPG as the only other Oregon player to score in double figures up to this point in the year. Jacob Young has 9.2 PPG while Eric Williams Jr. has 8.9 PPG with 5.2 RPG and Quincy Guerrier has 8.4 PPG with a team-high 5.4 RPG to lead the Ducks on the glass so far this season. As a team, Oregon is averaging 70.6 PPG on 46% shooting from the field, 33.6% from three and 66.7% from the foul line while allowing 66.2 PPG on 44% shooting from the field and 33.8% from three this season.
Utah is 0-4 ATS in their 4 road games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games against a team with a winning home record while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 Saturday games. Oregon is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 2-10 ATS in their last 12 home games against a team with a losing road record while the over is 6-1 in their last 7 games overall.
I get that the points with the Utes are tempting, but the problem I have is that the Utes have struggled on the road and while Oregon’s results haven’t been ideal up to date, this is still an experienced and talent-laden roster that Dana Altman’s put together via the transfer portal. I think this is a game that the Ducks pull away in the second half and eventually earn themselves a cover here. Give me the Ducks laying the points.
