Pepperdine vs Alabama State 11/13/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Alabama State Hornets and the Pepperdine Waves meet in college basketball action from the Firestone Arena on Sunday.

The Alabama State Hornets will look to rebound from back-to-back losses after a 96-58 loss to USC last time out. Duane Posey led the Hornets with 12 points on 5 of 8 shooting while Christian McCray added 10 points on 5 of 6 shooting with a team-high 6 rebounds as the only other double-digit scorer for Alabama State in the losing effort. Alex Anderson also added 7 points with a team-high 5 assists and 4 steals as well in the win.

The Pepperdine Waves will hope to bounce back from a 74-71 loss to CSU-Fullerton last time out. Maxwell Lewis and Mike Mitchell Jr. each had a team-high 15 points with Lewis logging 9 rebounds, 3 assists and a pair of steals while Mitchell Jr. shot 6 of 10 with a pair of threes. Jevon Porter added 12 points on 4 of 7 shooting with a team-high 10 rebounds for the double-double to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for Pepperdine in the winning effort.

Alabama State is 11-3 ATS in their last 14 games following a loss and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 road games against a team with a winning home record while the over is 9-1-1 in their last 11 games overall. Pepperdine is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a loss while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 Sunday games.

I get the case to be made either way in this game, but I’m looking at Pepperdine here. Sure, I’d have liked to have seen the Waves beat Fullerton, but they’ve already dismantled Rice earlier this season at home and I think that Alabama State is closer to Rice’s level, if they’re even on that level. The Hornets have already been blown out twice this year and I look for Pepperdine to make it three straight here. Give me the Waves.
