Rhode Island Rams

Rhode Island was 4-8 after 12 games this year, beating Stony Brook, Illinois State, Army and UMass Lowell. The Rams are 2-3 in their last five games, falling to Duquesne, La Salle and UMass during that stretch.

In the UMass game on Saturday, Rhode Island was down by just one point at halftime. The Rams were outscored 48-39 in the second half and lost 75-65. Ishmael Leggett topped the team on 19 points with three rebounds.

Richmond Spiders

Over on the Richmond side, they were 6-6 to start out the year, beating VMI, Northern Iowa, Temple, Drake, FDU and Bucknell. The Spiders are 4-2 since then with wins over Coppin State, George Washington, Davidson and Duquesne.

On Saturday in the St. Bonaventure game, the Spiders took a 29-23 advantage into the second half. Richmond was outscored 48-34 from there and lost 71-63. Matt Grace led the team on 16 points with five rebounds.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably stick with Richmond. The Spiders are coming off a sketchy second half against St. Bonaventure however, so they’ll need a rebound effort. Richmond has been pretty inconsistent on the scoreboard lately, too; they’ve hit 63 or fewer points in three of the last five games. All of that said, Rhode Island has been giving up a decent amount of points lately (67 or more in eight straight games) so if the Spiders get off to a good start I think they’ll be fine cover-wise.
