Richmond vs Utah State College Basketball Picks, Odds, Predictions 11/12/2021

The Utah State Aggies and the Richmond Spiders meet in college basketball action from Alumni Hall on Friday.

The Utah State Aggies will try to rebound from a 72-69 loss at the hands of UC-Davis in their season-opener. Brandon Horvath led the Aggies with 19 points on 7 of 14 shooting with 7 rebounds while Justin Bean had 16 points with 13 rebounds for the double-double as the only other Utah State player to score in double figures in the loss. Rylan Jones had 8 points with a team-high 6 assists and 3 steals while R.J. Eytle-Rock had 8 points with 5 assists as well in the defeat for Utah State. As a team, Utah State shot 36.1% from the field, 26.7% from three and 60.7% from the foul line in the loss.

The Richmond Spiders will be out to add to their 70-60 win over NC Central last time out. Grant Golden led the Spiders with 19 points on 8 of 10 shooting while Trey Burton and Jacob Gilyard each had 14 points to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for Richmond in the win with Burton shooting 7 of 7 from the foul line with 6 rebounds while Gilyard nad 6 rebounds, a team-high 6 assists and 7 steals. As a team, Richmond shot 41.4% from the field, 22.2% from three and 76.2% from the foul line in the victory.

Utah State is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games as an underdog while the under is 7-0 in their last 7 games overall. Richmond is 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games following an ATS loss.

I get why the points with Utah State could be worth a look, but realistically, I’m siding with Richmond. Even on a neutral floor, the Spiders bringing back five double-digit scorers is a big deal. Utah State’s got some solid pieces as well, but they’re adjusting to life without Neemias Queta protecting the paint and I think that the Spiders just take advantage here and win this game by at least 8-9 points. Give me Richmond.
