UC San Diego lost to Seattle and Sacramento State in their first pair this season, then beat California in game three. The Tritons followed up with losses to Navy and Youngstown State before a win over George Washington.

UC San Diego made it consecutive victories with their matchup versus Eastern Michigan on Sunday. The Tritons hit a 34-27 halftime edge and held on for the 66-63 win. Bryce Pope was tops in scoring with 20 points. Roddie Anderson added 12 points as well.

Over on the San Diego side, they went 3-1 in their first four games this year with wins over Sonoma State, FGCU and NJIT. The Toreros hit a 2-2 run in the next four, taking out SDCC And Longwood in that quartet.

In the Longwood matchup back on Monday, the Toreros were up 34-26 by halftime. San Diego was outscored 37-42 in the second but hung on for the 71-68 win. Both Jase Townsend and Wayne McKinney scored 15 points apiece.

PICK: I’m going to stay with the Toreros. San Diego has been pretty erratic over their last four games. That said, the good news is that the Toreros are still scoring pretty well even when they lose. San Diego has hit 70 or more points in every game this season and should be able to post some pretty good offensive numbers here also. As for UC San Diego, they’ve done some competent scoring in favorable matchups but have hit 70 points just twice so far this year. I don’t think the Tritons will be able to keep the pace in this one.
